Philosophy Over CoffeeMay sat forward in her chair and her mouth upturned in a small, interested smile while she sipped her iced coffee, the light droning of the conversation around them forgotten. May and Karter sat in a small booth in the middle aisle of the coffee shop. It was a plain little store, a simple mom & pop place that sold coffee, iced and not, and a small multitude of other things. Such as the wonderful scones May so enjoyed.  
 
At the moment though, May’s scone was forgotten.  
 
“Oh really, and why would you say that Mr. Karter?” She asked him curiously. He had just remarked that he thought the history text books Philosophy Over Coffee

Old Mistakes and New InterestsFirst bell rang and May stood up as students began milling about to get into the school for their first classes. Karter stretched his arms above his head and May his face, trying to get a glimpse of his eyes as his hair swayed in the breeze. Karter didn’t notice and hefted his schoolbag.   
They had been sitting by a large maple near the football field as they waited for the bell to ring, the tree a favorite spot of Karter’s so, naturally, everyone else flocked elsewhere so as not to let the ‘freak’s weirdo aura’ infect them. May felt that her fellow student’s behavior toward Karter was distasteful and Old Mistakes and New Interests
